'Tis the Halloween season, local makers! We just posted October's classes to the HammerSpace Calendar, and a few more are on the way! If you love Halloween and cosplay as much as we do, then you should check these out:
Sat. Sept. 29th: Ears & Noses
Students will learn how to take molds of
body parts such as their own ears and noses, then how to cast them in
latex, with added effects. This is a great class for those wanting to
create custom-fitted elf ears, a gnarly nose, or hellish horns for a
Halloween or cosplay costume. Ages 10-110. Cost $40/non-member $35/member
Sat. Oct. 13th: Grim Grinning Ghouls (aka Pumpkin Hacking)
If you've ever wondered how
pumpkin-carving artists create those amazing works of art, now is your
chance to learn the clever techniques used by the experts. Learn the
secrets to the pumpkin carving process with local pumpkin artist
Elizabeth Hershey. Design your own pattern or choose from the selection
provided, learn how to get the most out of your carving tools, learn how
to best preserve your pumpkin during and after the carving process. And
finally, leave with a jack-o-lantern or two that are full of character
and dimension, as well as the knowledge to make many more. Tools
provided, but it's up to YOU to supply the pumpkin. Ages 10-110. Cost $30/non-member $25/member
Sat. Oct 20th: DIY Custom Sonic Screwdriver TV-Be-Gone Build
Fans of the Doctor Who television series, you're gonna LOVE this class! Build your very own CUSTOM Sonic
Screwdriver with pre-made pieces, then learn how to solder in a small
TV-Be-Gone kit, giving your custom sonic screwdriver the power to turn
off just about any tv at any time. All materials & instructor included. This
would make a thoughtful gift for the Whovian in your life. Ages: 10-110.
