July Classes At HammerSpace

We have some exciting new classes coming up at HammerSpace this month. These classes are open to both members AND non-members! To sign up for any of these classes, call (913) 686-6562 or email hammerspacehobby @ gmail to get confirmation.

Saturday, July 12th, Noon-2pm:
Molding and Casting for Kids (AND Adults)

This
class is an introduction to molding and casting for young AND old(er).
Learn basic molding and casting techniques while making your own set of
miniature, paintable plaster castle building bricks, perfect for
building small structures for table gaming, dioramas, etc. Make as many
as you want during the class. We will be using Hurst Arts molds for this
class.
For ages: 8-108 years old
Cost: $20/member, $25/non-member

Tuesday, July 15th, 6:30-8:30pm:

Leather Arts- Make A Star Wars Wookie-Style Bandolier
Want
to make a Star Wars 'Wookie'-style leather bandolier of your very own,
while learning several valuable leather-working techniques from the
talented leather artists from Tandy Leather? Well, here's your chance!
All materials included, and everyone leaves with a piece they created
themselves during the class.
For ages: 16-116 years old
Cost: $50/member, $60/non-member

(This class will be held again on Sat., July 26th at Noon)

Friday, July 18th, 5:30-7:30pm:

Sew ANYTHING Class
Have a sewing machine but don’t know how to use it?
Want to finish a project you are stuck on?
Would you like to fit and alter your own clothes?
Or just want to learn to sew?
Valerie
Ford (local costume designer & sewing instructor) is offering
beginner and advanced sewing classes at HammerSpace, as well as pattern
making and draping. She likes to teach using sustainable materials like
2nd hand clothing and fabrics, so the cost is minimal and you learn how
to recycle your clothing into something new! Come to class and let her
know what your goals are, and she will help you work on achieving them.
She will have a variety of projects for you to choose from, or you can
bring your own.
For ages: 14-114 years old
Cost: $20/class -or- $100 for 6 classes

Saturday, July 19th, 11am-3pm:

3D Printing Clinic for ONI printers
This
is a 3D Printing Clinic for those interested in the Oni 3D printer,
taught by local expert Tom Newell. Cost: $20/person. Open to both
members AND non-members of HammerSpace. Spare parts will be on hand for
sale during this clinic.

Saturday, July 19th, 3pm-7pm:

3D Printing Design Class
If you've ever wanted to get into 3D printing, but don't quite know how to get started, then this is the class for you!
Join
Tim Middleton of CCCKC for his  3D Printing class, going on every
Saturday at Hammerspace. Learn how to design objects to be printed, as
well as how to operate a 3D printer. No prior knowledge required. Bring
your laptop so you can get set up to get started on designing your first
3D creation. (FYI: There is a 3D printer set up in the HammerSpace 'Big
Room' for those who are members of HammerSpace)

Sunday, July 20th, Noon-2pm:

Learn To Solder Class
An
introduction to through-hole soldering.  Build and solder a "Neuron"
kit.  The neuron kit uses LEDs to transmit pulses of light from neuron
board to neuronboard.  LEDs are used as transmitters AND receivers in
this bi-directional chasing light stream.  Neurons can blink when on
their own, or get a large group together and build an amazing display.
Neurons can also make sound when activated with the addition of a tiny
speaker Each neuron is magnetic, wearable, and reprogrammable.
For Ages 10-110
Cost:$20 non-members/$15 members of HammerSpace

July 26th, Noon-2pm:
