Join us Saturday June 1st or June 8th (2-5pm) for our new metal-smithing class, taught by Robert Schneider. Learn how to work with argentium silver while making a unique ring of your very own for yourself or a loved one.
Argentium is a unique Sterling Silver alloy using Germanium in place of some of copper traditionally used in Sterling Silver. The result is a vibrant white Sterling Silver that resists tarnish and fire-scale and can achieve a much greater hardness and wear resistance than traditional Sterling Silver. Argentium Sterling Silver requires different techniques to work and finish than traditional silver alloys.
Students will learn about Argentium and will either solder or fuse an Argentium ring. Students will then learn the basics of patterning and texturing their ring to produce a unique ring with individual personality. Several patterning and texturing processes will be available dependent on the skill level of the student. Materials will be provided to complete one ring, and some extra argentium will be available in limited quantities should you wish to make more than one ring. All skill levels are welcome, and we will attempt to individualize instruction to the skill level of the student.
