Argentium Ring Class with Robert Schneider, June 1st @ 2pm

Join us Saturday June 1st or June 8th (2-5pm) for our new metal-smithing class, taught by Robert Schneider. Learn how to work with argentium silver while making a unique ring of your very own for yourself or a loved one.

Argentium is a unique Sterling Silver alloy using Germanium in place of some of copper traditionally used in Sterling Silver.  The result is a vibrant white Sterling Silver that resists tarnish and fire-scale and can achieve a much greater hardness and wear resistance than traditional Sterling Silver. Argentium Sterling Silver requires different techniques to work and finish than traditional silver alloys.

Students will learn about Argentium and will either solder or fuse an Argentium ring. Students will then learn the basics of patterning and texturing their ring to produce a unique ring with individual personality. Several patterning and texturing processes will be available dependent on the skill level of the student.  Materials will be provided to complete one ring, and some extra argentium will be available in limited quantities should you wish to make more than one ring. All skill levels are welcome, and we will attempt to individualize instruction to the skill level of the student.
Date: Sat. June 1st or Sat. June 8th, 2-5pm
For Ages: 12 to 112 years old
Cost: $35/person (all materials included)
RSVP required. Call (913) 686-6562 or email hammerspacehobby @ gmail to reserve your seat before these classes fill up. Payment due at the time of the class. See our online CALENDAR page for additional classes being offered at HammerSpace.

  1. I audited this Class taught by Rob early on Saturday. I had a blast and made two rings they are spectacularly bright. Great fun.
  2. Looks like a great class!
  3. Robert is a good teacher and the Argentium is a really neat metal. When there are more advanced classes I'll be joining in for sure!
